POP3 Authentication on the mail server

recently, i realized there was a relay hole in the mail server. this hole *could* be used by a clever spammer to use my server as a platform to send spam. this never happened, but just in case, i closed the hole.

what the server does now is require that you are POP3 authenticated before you can send any email out. most of you will never even notice the difference. however, should you get a "relaying not allowed" type of error from your mail client, simply make sure you check your email before sending email. by checking your email you authenticate with the server and from then on you're allowed to send email to the outside world.
