Mail server problems
Oy. It just never ends. The mail server is having problems. As a result service is intermittent. Mail is not getting lost, but you may experience periods during which you cannot connect to it to download (pop3) or send (smtp) mail.
I will take a close look at the hardware shortly.

pop3 authentication fixed
problems are fixed. please report any further email issues

pop3 authentication down
A system upgrade today broke the authentication module for pop3 (email fetching). It should be fixed shortly.
